Grab Bag See Clearly Moment:
If you, or someone you know, has cloudy, scratched eyeglasses and no fix in sight, shelling out hundreds of dollars for new lenses seems like the only option. But wait! IF THEY ARE PLASTIC LENSES (not glass), I ran across a wonderful, well-kept secret.
To make your plastic lenses clear as day again, go to Michael’s and buy a $12 bottle of Armour Etch (made to frost glass). Here is what one grateful eyeglass-wearer had to say:
With shaking hands and a new toothbrush, I put the paste on my lenses, waited 5 minutes and hoped for the best. Holding my breath, I ran them under clear water using dish soap to clean them. I then cleaned them with my glasses cleaner spray and dried them with a soft clean glass rag (like they give you when you buy glasses). OMG! I can’t believe how crystal clear my lenses are now.
Grab Bag Immune Boost:
Do you know someone who is constantly coming down with something? Maybe it’s you? For those whose immune systems need all the help they can get, here are Dr. Andrew Weil’s four dietary tips that can really make a difference (and should be considered for all of us, really… I mean, who DOESN’T want to help their immune system??)
• Make sure your intake of Alaskan Salmon or other omega-3 rich oily fish is at least 3 times a week.
• Avoid polyunsaturated oils (safflower, sunflower, corn, etc) as well as margarine, vegetable shortening, and anything with partially hydrogenated oils in them.
• Eat a low-protein, plant based diet that excludes all cow’s milk products (Yes, that includes ice cream…OK… I heard you… you said, “Yeah, right, like THAT’S gonna happen.”)
• Eat PLENTY of fruits and veggies, EXCEPT alfalfa sprouts, as they have an amino acid that can challenge the immune system. Huh. I did not know that until now.
Grab Bag Healthy Home:
Your home is where it all begins. It s a telling sign of how you see your health, your life, and the world at large. It may be clean (OR maybe not ?), but how HEALTHY is it? Here’s a checklist from the EWG (Environmental Working Group) to help check off the things in your home and your life you might not otherwise focus on:

What’s a 21st century ad agency to do? What with the demise of so much print media, the micro formats of all those FaceSpaces, MyBooks, Litters and TwinkedIns, it’s become nearly impossible to get any attention for the average company with products to sell.
So imagine my surprise when, during a very rainy San Francisco day, I passed by this bus stop. As I walked away from this structure, head tucked under my umbrella, it slowly dawned on me to question why THIS transit stop was so marvelously festooned. I had to go back.. even in the rain.
The flowers were fluffy, fake, and Alice-in-Wonderland huge….
And as I walked around the thing, the punchline stared straight out at me… more flowers, sandwiched between two panes of glass, decorating the guest of honor… Degree Deodorant’s new Natureffects line of products.
I’m sure there are a number of these floral displays that are moved from stop to stop, even city to city. Bravo to the ad folks for this.
And, as commercial deodorants go, some of Degree’s aren’t that bad (they make one for girls that rates a 3 on Cosmetics Database, which sure beats the heck out of these Bulgari, Brut, Right Guard and Weleda(!!) deodorant offerings). Still… I’d love you all to buy something from THIS section of the Database.
My Take Away… sometimes the newest, latest and greatest modalities aren’t the most noteworthy. Thinking outside the TV and the laptop is refreshing.
Grab Bag Swim Away:
If your family yearns to plan something pretty cool and different, yet keep the kids amped on the whole thing, look into booking “Dolphins in Depth” at Disneyworld, Florida. They only take 8 people a day, Monday through Friday, for a three hour, up-close-and-personal, visit with the dolphins. You even get to get in the water with them! Shake fins with Flipper and create a memory the kids, and you, will never forget.
Grab Bag Brain Game:
Time to stretch ourselves a bit….most of us we don’t deal with numbers enough. Try this out. Read the brief instructions, then pause to reflect on what those mean, and give it a try. It’s exercise… we need it 🙂
