Grab Bag Face It Moment:
As you may see to the right, LK’s Grab Bag now has a Facebook page where the word of The Bag may be spread far and wide. If you’re a Facebooker, perhaps you’ll click that badge on the right, become a fan, and spread the link to your Facebook friends. Muchas gracias, mi amigos.
Grab Bag Fiber Optics:
Fiber is fiber is fiber, right? Not so fast there, Trigger. Whole grain breads and cereals, fruits, veggies, beans, legumes… they will all help with lowering cholesterol, regulating healthy gut function, and balancing blood sugar… BUT…. it seems recent research shows an advantage in the fiber contained in legumes (lentils, peas, beans, carob, soy and peanuts… TRIVIA BONUS … lupin flowers are legumes!, and they have beans that are usually packed and stored like pickles.. the Andean lupin beans were a big time snack in the Incan Empire).
Probably due to a lower glycemic index, the legume fiber did a better job at regulating blood sugar than whole grain fiber… this is important as we watch the rates of diabetes and heart disease continue to rise in this country.
Take Away Tip…. make sure your fiber intake is balanced… don’t rely on just whole grain cereals, brown rice, and whole grain breads. Count your beans and peas, my friends.

Wow… excuses are being stripped from us left, right and center. Here’s the latest… and I think one of the greatest… A plethora of exercise classes comes to YOU…..
FITNESS BUILDER
A $9.99 iPhone app that has literally hundreds of workouts at all levels, with a variety of focuses. Really intense to really mellow. Boot camps and Yoga champs alike. Many require no equipment, while many use some very basic equipment that many have at home.
These workouts are GREAT… I’ve been using them about once a week, mixed in with my Pilates and all the other goodies I pursue. I can’t say enough about it.
Take Away Tip: You can pretty much figure out a lot of how it works and what they offer on your own (I did), but with exploration… I suggest a bit of time with the tutorials on their website, PumpOne.com… you will really get A LOT out of this program.
Click on the iPhone screenshots below to go to PumpOne.com, or find Fitness Builder on iTunes.

Gracias, madre, for sending this to me…. Steve Spangler shows how a cornstarch-and-water liquid can be a solid on last year’s Ellen show.
Even more bizarre is watching the same mixture placed into a speaker cone and reacting to the sound waves…

This is my Community Service to you… actually, it’s my cat’s donation, my mistake.
So, when you get a gorgeous animal like my cat Willow, it comes with strings attached:
Brushing…. LOTS of brushing… is involved. But all was under control for many years.
But a couple of years ago, enter Sophie, the first small dog to grace our family, who also requires…. you guessed it….lots of brushing:
They grew to be good friends…
But life gets in the way sometimes. And cats have a way of sinking into a comfy chair, and napping themselves into your forgetfulness.
And so it was with Willow. Sophie demanded more. Willow’s brushings became less frequent. Neither of us liked it. We did the best we could, okay?
But we all have to Pay the Piper eventually. Willow’s belly (the part he HATED to have brushed) got more and more matted, due to the fact that he had a horribly negligent mom.
It slowly became apparent by last week that there was really only one logical way out…..
So now, with a mixture of guilt and giggles, I present, for your consideration….
WILLOW 2010
Sophie is doing her best to keep a straight face.
Willow’s not speaking to her…
…. and maybe not to me, either ;-p
Sometimes we live our lives as shining examples… and other times as horrible warnings.
Grab Bag Brain Game:
An animated solitaire scrabble of sorts….
Grab Bag Funny Stuff:
It’s a cleaning device, it’s a cat sitter, it’s a dog toy, it’s an art display….
Many thanks to Kevin D. for this fabulous submission.
Maybe I could say Willow insisted on riding a lawn mower, and everything went terribly wrong??? Back me up here.
I cannot stop laughing poor Willow so mean to her
You may have started a trend among the cat kingdom.
I must admit I did laugh out loud. I thought Willow looks
adorable.
Willow actually seems OK with it. He feels like VELVET!! … and all that hair he shed on every piece of furniture, every piece of (black) clothing I own… not so much of an issue now 🙂
Looks a lot like Willow.08 or so, no? Too funny!
I cannot stop laughing either! Thanks for sharing. Willow’s face is priceless and so is Sophie’s reaction….
